Monday Night Jam Session: Eboni Fondren Trio at the Blue Room
About this Event
Eboni Fondren needs no introduction to Kansas City's jazz listeners — and it's high time the rest of the city caught up. The vocalist has been named Favorite Jazz Vocalist by the KC Jazz Ambassadors three years running (2021, 2022, and 2023), earned Favorite Vocalist recognition in The Pitch Best 2024, and was selected to represent the United States as a jazz ambassador at the 2023 G20 Summit in Varanasi, India. That's not a resume you build by playing it safe.
A graduate of the Everette DeVan School of Groove, Fondren has spent fifteen-plus years refining what makes her immediately recognizable: jazz standards interpreted with uncommon precision, charged with R&B soul. She carries the tradition and bends it just enough to make it unmistakably hers. Last year alone she released two albums — "The Journey: To Kansas City with Love" in July and "An American in Paris," recorded with the Laurent Marode Orchestra in Paris, in October.
Monday night she brings her trio to the Blue Room for the featured set. After the set closes, the bandstand opens: bring your instrument, your voice, or just your ears. The Monday Night Jam is where Kansas City's players come to stretch out, and there's no better artist to set the tone.
$10 cover. Featured set starts at 7 pm; sign up at the door to sit in.
The Blue Room, 1600 E 18th St, Kansas City, MO 64108. Monday, June 29 at 7 pm.
