Documentary – 1 hour, 30 minutes
Step into the neon-bright, politically charged, and unapologetically human world of Keith Haring—the
electrifying force who transformed subways, billboards, and gallery walls into a canvas for social change.
Friend to Andy Warhol, Basquiat, and Grace Jones, Haring was more than a pop art prodigy—he was a
radical optimist who believed art belonged to everyone. With his instantly recognizable line work and
boundless energy, he confronted issues like AIDS, racism, and capitalism with bold strokes and a childlike
visual language that spoke volumes. –
In this intimate and powerful film by Claudia Clausen, Keith Haring: Street Art Boy traces the meteoric rise
of a queer icon who burned bright and left behind a message that still pulses with urgency today.
Featuring rare archival footage, commentary from those who knew him best—like Kenny Scharf, Yoko
Ono, and Tony Shafrazi—and hauntingly beautiful excerpts from Haring’s own voice, this is not just a
documentary. It’s a celebration of courage, creativity, and compassion in the face of crisis.
Admission is free with a full-priced museum ticket. Please explore the museum before the showing.
