MONCTON: Ralph Alfonso Punk Photo Tour @ Laundromat

My Punk Photo Tour is coming to Moncton on Saturday, Aug 1 at Laundromat Expresso Bar, 382 rue St George, from 4 til 8pm.
What started as a one-off punk photo exhibition in a Toronto record store has taken on a life of its own and evolved into a tour that's already hit Hamilton and Oshawa and now is making its way to Niagara Falls (June 28), London (July 5), Moncton (Aug 1), Ottawa (Aug 16) and Japan for Spring 2027; with more to follow.
I'm including a press statement I've been using plus links to current stories about the exhibition. All photos are 12x18" and very affordable ($20 to $40).
My connection to Moncton is I have family here (my wife is from Riverview and my father in law is in Cocagne). When I was on tour with my RALPH band, I played the old Aux Deuxieme club (later known as 53rd & 3rd) twice (the 2nd time with Lee Aaron when she was doing a jazz set).

The Laundromat Expresso Bar is proud to announce the first ever Moncton punk photography tour stop by Ralph Alfonso, featuring his incredible documentation of the 1976-1979 punk explosion (and more). Free admission and all images are very affordably priced.
In addition to managing The Diodes and the Crash'n'Burn Club (Canada's first punk club, built by and run by the bands); Ralph was an important writer/photographer; covering the nascent scenes in New York, Toronto and the UK, for publications like Cheap Thrills (Toronto), New York Rocker and BOMP! (USA), Shades (Toronto) and others. Ralph also published Treat Me Like Dirt (by Liz Worth), the definitive book on the Toronto 77 punk scene (and still in print 17 years later).
His trove of photographs includes Iggy Pop, Blondie, Patti Smith, Diodes, Ramones, The Damned, Bif Naked, Talking Heads, Dead Boys, Richard Hell, Stranglers, Mo-Dettes, The Curse, Teenage Head, Wendy O. Williams, Viletones, Barracudas, The Jam, Clash, B-Girls, The Nerves, Chelsea, and many more.

"Old school 76-77 punk is having a moment. It was 50 years ago that Punk magazine serendipitously gave this music a moniker and The Ramones spread the gospel worldwide, as hundreds of bands formed after every one of their concerts.
Anyway, all this to say, I was actually there and I took some photos and wrote about it, ran a club (Crash'n'Burn), managed a band (The Diodes), pissed off a major label, and then it was all over and I disappeared into the music industry labyrinth, all my negatives sitting in a box for eons, only to be rediscovered a few years ago and I'm still finding amazing images I didn't realize I had.
So, over the next few weeks, I am doing a DEEP dive into the negs and preparing for my first ever photo tour stop and sale in Moncton in collaboration with the super cool folks at The Laundromat!
