Monarch Tagging at Glacier Creek Preserve π¦

I came across these upcoming Monarch tagging events at Glacier Creek Preserve and thought some of you might be interested! Iβm planning to attend one of them myself.
Join Dr. Ted Burk, an entomologist from Creighton University who has studied the butterflies at Glacier Creek Preserve for more than 20 years, for a hands-on opportunity to learn about Monarchs, their incredible migration, and citizen science. Participants will learn how to safely capture, handle, and tag Monarchs using official Monarch Watch tags.
π Glacier Creek Preserve
14810 State St., Bennington, NE 68007
Meet at The Barn
Dates & times:
Sunday, September 13 β 1:00β4:00 pm
Tuesday, September 15 β 1:00β4:00 pm
Sunday, September 20 β 1:00β4:00 pm
Monday, September 21 β 1:00β4:00 pm
All ages are welcome, and you don't need any previous experience. Butterfly nets will be provided, although you can bring your own. It's also a come-and-go event, so you can arrive late or leave early.
A few things to know:
β’ Wear closed-toe shoes and long pants for walking through the prairie.
β’ Bring a water bottle. Restrooms and refill stations are available at The Barn.
β’ Pets are not permitted.
β’ Events may be postponed or canceled due to rain or severe weather.
β’ RSVPs are appreciated but not required: [email protected]
β’ For questions or to check for cancellations: 402-554-6300
It sounds like a really neat opportunity to get out on the prairie, see Monarchs up close, and contribute to actual citizen-science research. π¦πΏ
Hope to see some of you there!
