About this Event
The Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains are seeking volunteers to take part in a special event! The goal of this unique opportunity is to restore monarch overwintering habitat in lower Topanga State Park, within the Palisades Fire burn scar. Our team will be directing volunteers on the removal of invasive species, the planting of new natives to take their place and the building of protective cages to ensure these plants can thrive. We will be directing volunteers off-trail, over uneven ground with the goal of maintaining the integrity and health of the existing ecosystem, so we ask volunteers take special care during this event.
We will be meeting close to the historic Rodeo Grounds within Lower Topanga State Park, near the intersection of Topanga Canyon Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway. Carpooling to this event is encouraged as parking is limited!
Be sure to wear durable shoes (NO FLIP FLOPS), clothes that can get dirty, and ample sunscreen. Bring a reusable water bottle and dress in layers, as California weather can be unpredictable!
We look forward to your help in our efforts to reforest and heal the wildlands of the Santa Monica Mountains in the wake of the Palisades Fire.
