Welcome to our Moms Of Western Burbs Favorite Annual Event, Photos with Santa Claus, straight from the North Pole!Every year for the last six years, we choose a charity to support from our event. This year we are doing a Toy Drive, once again. All remaining proceeds and toys collected from this event will go to a wonderful organization, Ronald McDonald House, in Winfield. Ronald McDonald House is where families and child patients can stay together while the child is having testing, surgery, chemotherapy and so much more. It allows family to have a place to eat, sleep, do laundry, be close to their child & remain together.
Many times while staying in the house, sweet patients get to choose from gifts from their toy room to help brighten their spirits during the tough moments. We will be collecting unwrapped gifts to deliver to the Ronald McDonald House to hopefully fill their toy storage room!
Your ticket to the Santa Event allows you to stay in our magical wonderland for an hour time slot! Meet with Santa, have professional photos taken by HB Photography (as well as take your own for Christmas Cards), create a Dear Santa letter, color some fun themed sheets, create a wood ornament masterpiece, munch on some treats and enjoy the beautiful scenery & magic that Arrowhead has to offer.
Each child is $7. You are not obligated to bring a gift for the Toy Drive but if you would like to please bring an unwrapped gift to the event. A gift will not change what is happening in each child's life that is going through medical issues, but it will bring joy and happiness!
This year, with his Mother's blessing & support, we are doing our Toy Drive in honor of a local hero Simon Nabeti. Simon Nabeti, 13, of Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away after a brief but brave battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
"Simon was an 8th grader at Hadley Junior High. He loved his family, friends, and sports. He went through phases of being obsessed with dinosaurs, superheroes, Harry Potter, and most recently, football! He was proud to wear #96 for Golden Eagles Football and looked forward to playing in high school. Simon’s first battle with cancer began in August of 2019 when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Despite Simon’s many years battling cancer, he still managed to go on many adventures: Make-A-Wish trip to the Super Bowl, Camp One Step, family vacations, friends’ camping."
Simon's Squad was a tremendous community support over the years. The family had a close relationship over the years with the Hem/Onc staff and pediatric unit at Northwestern Central Dupage Hospital, Ronald McDonald House Philadelphia, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
