This group provides Law Enforcement assistance with their missing person’s cases. We provide the families of the missing hope that they can be reunited with their loved ones. We have done many urgent searches with critically missing people, and we provide assistance in cold cases where it is a recovery mission. Our assistance is at no cost to the Law Enforcement agencies or the families. All of our members are volunteers and we receive no money from VMV, all of our expenses are paid personally- (except VMV does pay for training opportunities.) On searches not suitable for horses we will assist on foot- usually tracking the scent dogs- keeping GPS and compass bearings, working the Incident Command table, reporting findings to Law Enforcement, etc. Outside of participating in searches, VMV is actively involved in the community in many other aspects. We have done many local National Night Outs with Law Enforcement, we do the Jesse Pickett Safety Days in Greenville, we do the 9/11 parade in Juneau Wi, and we do the missing person’s awareness event in Green Bay every year. Every year we also do the Catfish Races concert in Greenville- we do parking lot patrol on horses. We try to bring horses to all of the events above- safety days- national night out, etc, but when we do not we will operate a table at a minimum. We explain the importance of “hug a tree” to kids, talk about what to do if you go missing, talk about our horses and their jobs, provide information to the parents, etc. We have a small, but very dedicated group of people in our organization and an incredible group of horses we are lucky enough to have as our partners.
