Molly's Knob Challenge Extreme 5K

Join the Smyth County Chamber of Commerce for the annual Molly's Knob Challenge on Saturday, October 4th, 2025!

Located in the beautiful Hungry Mother State Park, the Molly's Knob Challenge is not your average 5K! Challengers will take on the summit of Molly's Knob, gaining more than 1,000 feet elevation in the first 1.7 miles. The course is approximately 3.4 miles long, making it a longer than average race. Due to the difficult terrain, no dogs are allowed in the race.

Pre-registration is required! Registration closes September 26th, 2025. Early bird registration is $25 and is open until August 25th and general registration is open from August 25th until September 26th and is $30.

Check in for the race will begin at 8:00am in Parking Lot 6 in Hungry Mother State Park and the race will begin at 9:00am at the Molly's Knob trailhead. Please note all competitors will need to complete an entry waiver prior to participating in the 5K.
