MOKHORO - The Ascension Experience

Across 10 days, Kunstraum London becomes a space for deep listening, reflection, cultural exchange and community.
At the centre of the exhibition is a hand-built mokhoro, a traditional Basotho hut that has long served as a place of gathering across Lesotho’s mountain villages.
Visitors are invited to step inside the mokhoro to pause, reflect and experience meditative sound compositions curated by Natty, rooted in Nyahbinghi drumming, chanting, bass frequencies and healing sounds.
The music is accompanied by cymatic water projections created in collaboration with artist Kibir La Amlak. Cymatics makes sound visible, showing how different frequencies move through water to create constantly shifting shapes, patterns and geometries.
The projections provide a visual window into something that would normally remain invisible: the physical movement created by sound. This meeting of music, science, visual art and spiritual practice forms the centrepiece of MOKHORO, creating an experience that can be heard, seen and felt.
Outside the mokhoro, visitors can explore vinyl listening stations featuring Natty’s latest music, visual material from his home in the hills of St Ann, Jamaica, and artwork by Natty’s long-time collaborator and friend 9T Onedrinpen.

The exhibition brings Natty’s Basotho heritage into conversation with the spiritual path he later found through Rastafari and Nyahbinghi.
Lesotho and Jamaica have both played central roles in shaping his identity. Throughout MOKHORO, their shared qualities of resilience, independence and community, and what Natty describes as a “rebel spirit, but with love”, are explored through sound, imagery and storytelling.
Opening Night: Friday 24 July
MOKHORO opens with a special live acoustic performance and storytelling from Natty, bringing the music, memories and spirit behind the exhibition into an intimate live setting. Guests will also be among the first to enter the installation and experience the mokhoro, meditative sound compositions and cymatic water visuals.
