Taína Asili will be performing an excerpt from Fever Pitch as part of the inaugural Mohawk-Hudson Earth Fest in Central Park, Schenectady on Sat. April 25th!
Presented by Music Haven and The Eighth Step, in partnership with neighborhood associations, sustainability groups, environmental advocates, and local leaders, the inaugural Mohawk-Hudson Earth Fest will bring together residents from across the region in the heart of Schenectady’ s Central Park to celebrate, learn, and take action in honor of Earth Day and Arbor Day.
Join us for a free, family-friendly Earth Fest on Saturday, April 25, from 12–4 PM in Central Park in Schenectady, spanning the area between Music Haven, the Isabella Picnic Pavilion, and the children’s playground known as Tiny Tot Land. Both celebratory and educational in spirit, the festival is designed as an accessible entry point for individuals and families to connect with local sustainability efforts and resources.
Festival programming will feature live music on the Music Haven stage, with performances by Taina Asili’s Fever Pitch, Lui Collins, Magpie, and Betty & The Baby Boomers, interspersed with poems and a series of short, engaging talks from environmental speakers. Adonis Richards, the City of Schenectady’s Poet Laureate, will present an original poem written for the occasion, adding a creative dimension to the day’s environmental focus.
A strong emphasis is placed on youth engagement and hands-on learning. A dedicated kids’ stage will feature Deb Cavanaugh, Terri Roben, and the storytellers Children at the Well, alongside activities designed to inspire curiosity and stewardship. The Sustainable Learning Center will lead seed-planting activities and offer tours of its in-park greenhouses and gardens. Kids Arts Fest will coordinate creative reuse projects, including a “Woven River” sculpture made from repurposed fabric and plastics, as well as flower and bird crafts using recycled materials.
A wide range of sustainability-focused organizations will also participate, offering information, resources, and opportunities for continued community involvement across Schenectady County and the broader region.
The festival is supported by a strong coalition of sponsors and community partners, including WEXT 97.7/106.1FM—demonstrating wide community investment in this growing regional event.
