Moffett Field Museum • The Battle of the Philippine Sea
About this Event
Join us Saturday, June 20th at 1:30 PM for Part 2 of our series on Japanese Americans and the Military Intelligence Service (MIS), as we discuss their contribution to the U.S. naval victory at the Battle of the Philippine Sea, June 19–20, 1944.
Historians Naomi Shibata and Robert V. Ragsac Sr. will provide a two-part talk on the continued struggles to fully integrate the MIS into U.S. strategic goals and how their decryption of the IJN's "Z-Plan" resulted in the "Great Marianas Turkey Shoot" and the destruction of the Imperial Japanese fleet.
Naomi Shibata is a historian, storyteller, and docent with the National Japanese American Historical Society and the Friends and Family of Nisei Veterans.
Robert V. Ragsac Sr. is a senior historian and member of the Board of Directors at the Moffett Field Museum. He also serves on the board of the Filipino American National Historical Society National Museum in Stockton and is the founder of Pinoytown Walking Tours in San Jose.
