About this Event

Monday, 10/20/2026, 5:30-7pm, Auditorium: Metro Michigan Shotokan Karate presents: Modern Women's Self-Defense Seminar, instructed by Andrea Moon, 4th Degree Black Belt (Japanese Shotokan Karate). This hands-on, empowering seminar teaches practical, effective techniques to help you protect yourself in real‑world situations. You’ll actively train as both the attacker and the defender, building confidence through repetition and learning how to respond with a variety of defensive combinations. The session also focuses on developing situational awareness so you can recognize danger early and reduce the risk of becoming a target.
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing, tie back long hair and remove all jewelry.
Participants will receive a detailed handout reviewing every technique covered, making it easy to continue practicing on your own. This seminar is designed specifically for women ages 13 and up.
