Transport yourself to the heart of Paris in this hands-on cooking class led by food writer and chef-instructor Shawnie Kelley, author of The Woman’s Guide: France. Together, you’ll prepare a refined yet comforting Parisian bistro menu that celebrates the beauty of simplicity, the balance of flavors, and the art of French technique.
The evening begins with a steaming bowl of French three-onion soup, where layers of onions are slowly caramelized to bring out their sweetness, then steeped in a rich, savory broth. Next, you’ll fire up the grill for the iconic steak frites—a classic pairing of juicy steak and crispy hand-cut fries. Learn how to perfectly sear steak, create golden shoestring potatoes, and make a delicate herb-infused aioli that transforms this humble dish into something extraordinary.
A green salad with a poached egg rounds out the meal, showcasing the elegance of French simplicity. Then, for dessert, prepare the legendary Crêpe Suzette—thin crêpes bathed in an orange-infused caramel sauce and flambéed for a dramatic finish. You’ll master techniques for caramelizing, grilling, emulsifying, and flambéeing, leaving with skills and confidence to recreate this elevated bistro experience at home. Enjoy your meal with a glass of wine, the perfect companion to an unforgettable evening.

What to Expect:
Classes are limited to 16 students for an intimate, hands-on experience. Participants will be standing, cooking, and working for most of the class, so please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and long pants, and tie back long hair. Aprons are provided.
Age Requirement: Open to ages 15 and up.
