This course for real estate professionals examines techniques and gives practical advice for moderating successful panel discussions and getting the best out of panellists. The course will teach you how to facilitate an engaging and interesting session for the audience.

The course is limited to 8 participants to ensure time for all to practice.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • What to expect from moderating an event and how to prepare
  • Key communication techniques required to moderate successfully
  • Understanding and managing your panellists
  • Putting theory into practice with mock panel discussions

On completion of the course, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the role of moderators and how to prepare
  • Effectively facilitate an engaging panel discussion

Who is running the course?


Andrea Carpenter, Co-founder and Director, Diversity Talks Real Estate and Women Talk Real Estate

Andrea Carpenter is Co-Founder and Director of Diversity Talks Real Estate, and a writer and communications consultant in the property industry.

As a Director of Diversity Talks Real Estate, Andrea helps raise the visibility of under-represented groups in the industry through the stage and media. This includes training and other women-led initiatives through DTRE’s Women Talk Real Estate community.

On the writing side, her book about the history of the modern European property industry, High Rise and Fall, was published by Routledge in September 2018.

A ndrea regularly moderates industry panel discussions as well as whole events for industry bodies, including ULI Europe Annual Conference and INREV's Annual Conference.

Andrea began her career as a journalist at Property Week before moving on to be editor of EuroProperty for seven years. Following this she worked for various industry bodies including the Urban Land Institute, INREV in Amsterdam, and its sister organisation ANREV in Hong Kong. On returning to the UK, she worked as Head of Marketing and Communications EMEA at CBRE Global Investors.


Women Talk Real Estate is part of Diversity Talks Real estate, a non-profit organisation dedicated to increasing the visibility of professionals form under-represented groups in the European built environment industry. Our speaker platform connects these professionals with speaking and media opportunities and we provide training for successful stage and media presence.

What's the refund policy?

Moderating a successful panel course is designed for 8 people to ensure the best results and time for all to practice. As such we can offer the following cancellation policy:


  • Delegated can apply for a full refund up to 7 days prior to the event
  • Refunds will not be issued for cancellation requests received less than 7 days prior to the event
  • You can transfer your place free of charge to a colleague/peer at any point whilst the registration is open
  • All cancellations/transfers must be done through Eventbrite and might be subject to Eventbrite cancellation fee
