About this Event
Join us for an inspiring in-person moderated discussion with Montserrat Garibay, a National Board-Certified Teacher, former bilingual educator, and nationally recognized advocate for multilingual learners and their families. A graduate of the National Labor Leadership Initiative with the Worker Institute at Cornell University, Garibay brings a wealth of experience in education, leadership, and activism.
Born in Mexico City, Garibay immigrated to the U.S. as an undocumented student and became a citizen 20 years later, a journey that shaped her unwavering commitment to educational and immigration equity. In this session, she will share insights on multilingual learners’ educational rights and strategies for creating inclusive, equitable learning environments that honor linguistic and cultural diversity. Drawing on her extensive background in policy, practice, and community engagement, Garibay will explore the intersections of education and advocacy, highlighting ways to promote opportunities for all students, including those from immigrant families.
This event is a must-attend for educators, policymakers, and community leaders dedicated to fostering equity and inclusion in education. Engage in a dynamic dialogue, ask questions, and gain practical strategies to reimagine education as a space where all learners can thrive.
