Mocktail Happy Hour Fundraiser

You’re invited to unwind with the Friends of the Red Wing Public Library. Enjoy refreshing mocktails, delicious small bites, great company, a silent auction, and more. Get to know local author, Beth Cato, who will do a reading.
$30 for an evening of fun. Purchase your tickets at the service desk in the library.
Doors Open at 5 pm. Enjoy Mocktails, light-bites, and pick your activity: You could peruse the Silent Auction items and place a bid; You could join the crafty folks and pay extra to decorate a mocktails cup to take home with you; You visit the duck pond and take a chance buying a duck -- the prizes are many; Or, you can just relax with friends until Beth Cato’s presentation. Beth is an award-winning, local author who writes mysteries, fantasies, short stories and poems.
Below is a little synopsis of the why behind the fundraiser.
A Charlie Cart is a project that was started by executive chefs who wanted to make cooking and meal prep more accessible. The cart itself comes with enough utensils and supplies to lead a class of 10 students. While this is intended for youth, many libraries use their carts for adult classes. Having this cart available at the library would be a way to help address food insecurities in the area, as well as teach people how to cook and prepare meals for themselves and their families. The cart also comes with an instruction binder so, even if someone hasn’t led a class before but has the skills, they can follow along. The cart works on a “gray water” system, meaning that the water used is recycled, filtered, and reused. To power it, it just needs a standard outlet. No hood is required either, and there are no open flames. The Charlie Cart would add food literacy to the list of literacies that the library provides to the community. The Charlie Cart is a $15,000 purchase, and as the Friends of the Library organization, we are trying to raise funds to help supplement the library's resources, thus freeing up tax dollars for other library needs.
