More About The EPC
MOCAD’s Emerging Patron Council — established in 2025 — is dedicated to cultivating a dynamic community of individuals under 50 who are passionate about contemporary art. Our mission is to empower emerging patrons with knowledge, experience, and cultural literacy in the contemporary arts while fostering meaningful engagement with MOCAD. Structured to reflect the Museum's governing board, the Council collaborates with MOCAD staff to create innovative and inspiring opportunities for the next generation of arts supporters.
More About MOCAD's Renovation
MOCAD’s Phase 1 renovation marks a pivotal moment as the museum approaches its 20th anniversary, uniting physical upgrades with a renewed institutional vision. The project includes essential infrastructure improvements such as a new roof and HVAC system to protect artworks, alongside a redesigned Woodward Avenue façade and public window display that enhances accessibility. Interior transformations introduce the Knight Foundation Community Commons, expanded staff offices, and a permanent Learning Studio for youth engagement. Paired with the renaming of its main building in honor of Co-Founder Julia Reyes Taubman, the renovation reflects MOCAD’s enduring commitment to community, experimentation, and contemporary art in Detroit.
