MMGF MARCUS GARVEY DAY GALA AT THE KWAME NKRUMAH MEMORIAL PARK.
The MMG Foundation is proud to announce that our MMGF MARCUS GARVEY DAY FUNDRAISING GALA 2026 will take place at the very beautiful, tranquil, scenic, picturesque and historic DR KWAME NKRUMAH MEMEORIAL PARK in Accra, Ghana.
The event will take place on Saturday 22 August 2026, starting at 1pm. We will be celebrating the one hundred and thirty nineth anniversaries of the birth of The Rt. Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey, First National Hero of Jamaica, Founder of the UNIA and one of the Fathers of Pan Africanism. We will also be celebrating the life of our former Chairperson Mrs. Naomi Patricia Palmer-Buchanan (Wudase Mariam) who sadly passed away in December 2025.
We will be Raising funds to support MMG Foundation’s plans to acquire a larger premises which will enable its growth and development into a world class institution, capable of training more students and increasing the variety courses that it offers to its trainees.
The theme of this year’s Gala is “Legacy in Motion” It highlights MMG Foundation’s strategy to build itself into a World Class Vocational Training Institution that offers African youths a realistic pathway from unemployment to Vocational Training, Mentorship, Employment and Entrepreneurship. This strategy involves working closely with MMG Whirlwind Ltd and other industrial and training partners.
The Program will feature the Foundation’s current group of students, who will be performing songs and drama about the realities of life for young people in Ghana. They will also be demonstrating some of the Electrical skills and techniques that they have learned on their training course. We will have representatives who specialize in Solar Power Equipment, CCTV installation, and Domestic Electrical Wiring. A wide variety of Government Departments and bodies will also be represented.
The Gala will feature a three-course Caribbean Meal, Live Music, Cultural Performances, Speakers, African-Caribbean Art and Artifacts, Vendors, Fund Raising Auctions, Lottery. Games etc. There will also be activities for the children.
So come and have an enjoyable family day in a historic, tranquil and educational environment. Let us celebrate the true legacy of The Rt. Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey and Wudase Mariam. Let us endeavour to build an institution that will make them Proud.
