The "Mantra Music Sessions" (MM Sessions) is a project that brings together musicians from different backgrounds to share their musical traditions and knowledge, with the aim of creating and performing music collaboratively.
The goal is to introduce students from conservatory and semi-professional musicians to world music. Through participation, musicians will have the opportunity to enhance their creativity, technical abilities, and understanding of diverse musical cultures.
From November 2024 to April 2025 MM Sessions will invite a guest musician each month to lead four sessions with students. In these sessions, they will work together to develop a repertoire, which will then be showcased in a public performance at Goudblommeke / La Fleur en Papier Doré located in the centre of Brussels.
Hussein Rassim is a talented young Iraqi musician, trained in Oud (oriental lute) at top music schools in Iraq. He founded Solo Baghdad and later moved to Belgium, where he contributed to the Amerli, Refugees for Refugees album in 2015. He then formed the band Nawaris, recording an album with Homerecord Label. His music blends traditional Iraqi sounds with influences from his experiences, especially in Brussels.
