Building a Beloved Community: Unite, Serve, Transform on MLK Day
The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a defining moment each year when Americans across the country step up to make our communities more equitable and take action to build the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s dream. While Dr. King believed the Beloved Community was possible, he acknowledged and fought for systemic change.
Join HandsOn River Region on MLK Day 2026 as we come together to build community through unity, service, and transformation.
Our day will begin with volunteer check-in and a breakfast hosted by the Montgomery Biscuits at 8am in their Club Car Bar. Volunteers will then disperse to various project sites around the community to serve agencies including:
Homeless Sleeping Mat Ministry
YMCA of Greater Montgomery
Tie and Doll
Rebuilding Together Central Alabama
Montgomery Public Schools
Heritage Training and Career Center
Successful Connections Nonprofit Organization
PLUS, there's an opportunity to kick off the day of service on Sunday afternoon with Fostering Excellence Productions for their MLK Stepshow, Stroll-Off & Talent Show!!
