A group audition for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES will be held on Monday, June 15, from 4-6 p.m. at Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake. There is no cost for students to participate. Students entering 1st through 12th grade, of all experience levels are welcome – this is a great intro to theater for first time participants and an excellent skill building opportunity for those who have participated in the past!Students should arrive by 4 p.m. and plan to stay for the entire two-hour session. No advance preparation is necessary for the group audition, although it is an audition and there are only 50-60 roles, some students may not receive a role. The cast will be announced and a detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at 6 p.m. Monday.
The first rehearsal begins Monday at 6:30 p.m. for students with more complicated parts. Though not all cast members are needed at every session, all students must be available for the entire week and must be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role. Cast members scheduled for the full 4 ½ hours of rehearsal should bring a sack supper or snack.
The performances are on Saturday, June 20 at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at Thrasher Opera House. All those cast must be available for BOTH scheduled performances.
“Dress for success” is good advice that the Emperor takes whole-heartedly, wanting to impress new friends. But where to stop? When the clothes (and other people’s opinions) become more important than the people of the kingdom, trouble brews. To help their beloved Emperor find the way back to his heart, his true friends create an elaborate “birthday suit” for the Emperor to wear for his birthday parade celebration. The Emperor quickly and humbly learns that sometimes “less is more”!
