Join the Sophia Hilton Foundation of Canada for Mino Bimaadiziwin, a powerful five-part series exploring Anishinaabe worldview, teachings, and storytelling based on the Four Directions.
πΏ Session 5: Giiwedinong (North)
North is the direction of Elderhood, winter, wisdom, and spirit. This session explores our relationship with elders, knowledge, and the Anishinaabe worldview on transitioning from this life into Spirit. Learn how the Round Dance is both social and ceremonial and the embodiment of our connection to Spirit and Ancestors.
This engaging presentation offers insight into Indigenous knowledge systems, storytelling traditions, and timeless lessons that remain deeply relevant today.

Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation and Professor of Indigenous Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University, Dr. Meness brings deep knowledge, lived experience, and an accessible teaching style that welcomes both Indigenous and non-Indigenous audiences.

Held in an intimate gallery environment featuring stunning textile art created by Master Anishinaabe Quilt Designer Alice Williams from Red Lake First Nation, this event offers a uniquely immersive cultural experience.
