Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations: Gary Anandasangaree at TMU

Bring your questions for the federal minister responsible, Gary Anandasangaree, in conversation with Toronto Star political columnist and TMU Dais Senior Fellow Martin Regg Cohn.

Gary Anandasangaree has been Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations since mid-2023, and MP for Scarborough – Rouge Park since 2015. He was previously Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice, and also to the Minister of Multiculturalism. Born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, he is a human rights lawyer and community activist. He holds degrees from Carleton University and Osgoode Hall Law School.

Martin Regg Cohn is a political columnist at the Toronto Star. He is the founder of the Democracy Forum at Toronto Metropolitan University, and a Senior Fellow at the Dais. A foreign correspondent for 11 years in Asia and the Middle East, he was also Foreign Editor and a Parliamentary correspondent. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto.
