🌸🌿 July Meeting Announcement 🌿🌸
The Trolley Verdure team is excited to announce our next meeting on July 15 at The Trolley Verdure at The Electric City Trolley Museum, 300 Cliff St. Scranton.
We will be hosting our third Mini Mock Flower Show, showcasing the beauty and creativity of flower arranging and plants. This event is perfect for anyone passionate about plants and floral design or eager to learn!
Event Highlights:
• Potluck Luncheon at 12:00 PM
• Followed by an open critique by the judges of both plants and floral designs. This is a fantastic opportunity for us all to learn together and explore what makes a floral design distinctive, beautiful, and expressive.
• We will also discuss interest and opportunities for holding our very first Flower Show in 2027, potentially forming a Federated Garden Club chapter for Lackawanna County. This monumental event will require community input and commitment. We already have the beautiful trolley museum as the perfect setting for a grand flower show. Now it’s up to us to create a first-class event to be proud of—something truly wonderful.
• Meanwhile, these monthly floral workshops help us prepare a dedicated team of floral designers and plant enthusiasts to ensure the upcoming show’s success. We want arrangements that are inspiring, unique, and captivating. The enthusiasm so far is encouraging, but we aim to involve more people and sharpen our flower arranging skills for a first-class event.
Floral Design Competition
• The niche color is pale aqua.
• Arrangements will be judged and commented upon lin real time by professional floral designers and flower show judges.
Mini mock Flower Show Wednesday, July 15:
Flower Show Division (6 entries)
• Create a three-sided PATRIOTIC-THEMED design suitable for the entrance of a home or business. If possible, work on your creation from 9:30 AM to 11:45 AM at the museum. Rob Karp will be on hand to coach and assist.
• Your composition will be staged in a niche measuring 22" wide x 24" tall x 20" deep
The back of the niche may be covered with fabric or other material to enhance the flower arrangement.
• An accessory is permitted
Plant Division
• Two categories of 4 entries
• Green plant in a pot size no larger than 8 inches (no height restriction)
• Flowering plant in a pot no larger than 8 inches (no height restriction)
When & Where:
• Date: July 15
• Time: 9:30AM to 11:45 AM - make your arrangement at the museum
• Location: Trolley Verdure, Bay Four, Electric City Trolley Museum
Additional Info:
• Arrangements will be staged and critiqued live by professionals during the potluck luncheon starting at 12:00 PM.
• Judging will be an interactive session where each arrangement will be discussed based on good design principles to help you understand the judging process and improve your skills.
• Arrangements will remain on display for several days for museum visitors to enjoy.
• Awards will be given for the best entries in each of the three categories.
• Please join us for the potluck luncheon at 12:00 PM! Bring a dish of your choice and let us know in advance what you plan to bring so we can coordinate.
