Mindtrix: More Than You Can See
A Solo Exhibition by Uma Ramakrishnan
Mindtrix invites visitors to see the world—and themselves—a little differently. In this solo exhibition, artist Uma Ramakrishnan presents a curated selection from her 60-piece collection, Fragments of the Mind. The series encourages viewers not only to look at the artwork, but to look through it.
From early in life, the human mind learns to categorize what it sees—shapes, colors, and patterns—placing them into familiar frameworks. Through this body of work, Uma explores what happens when those frameworks are set aside. Her creative process becomes a quiet negotiation with the mind and ego, allowing the subconscious to guide the movement of the hand. The resulting works unfold freely, without rigid rules or expectations.
The exhibition is intentionally composed primarily in black and white, with only subtle hints of blue. This limited palette removes the immediate associations that color often creates, giving viewers the freedom to experience the forms without predetermined meaning.
Mindtrix is therefore as much about the viewer as it is about the artist. Each piece opens space for interpretation. Shapes may resemble memories, gestures may evoke emotions, and the spaces between lines may hold meaning unique to each observer.
