This mindfulness workshop, hosted by Dr. Alice Graham, invites participants to step away from the busyness of life with its myriad of demands and expectations to explore the richness of their own silence. Participants will engage in mindfulness practices using watercolor paint, crayons, colored pencils, sketching and journaling. Mindfulness exercises have not only been shown to reduce stress, but also improve sleep, creative problem solving, mood regulation, and self-esteem. This will be a space for engaging silence as a source for reflection and renewal. Materials will be provided, however, students are encouraged to bring their own materials to continue practicing mindfulness exercises on their own. Suggested materials include:

watercolors
brushes
crayons

About Dr. Alice Graham:
Dr. Alice M. Graham, ordained minister in the American Baptist Church, USA, holds a BA from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia (1967), and a Masters of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois (1977). In 1983, she earned a PhD from Northwestern University in Pastoral Psychology and Counseling in Evanston, Illinois. She is a retired Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and served for six years as the Executive Director at Back Bay Mission until retirement in 2021. In retirement, she founded “Turning Points From the Soul” focused on supporting people who are asking questions of meaning and purpose for their lives.
