Join Dr. Charmaine Jake-Matthews to explore baking as an avenue to mindfulness. As the Baker & CEO of Buy the Pound Bakery Inc. she will guide participants through the completion of a tasty recipe while showing them how this activity can contribute to mental wellness. This is a journey toward a place of acknowledgment and acceptance of our thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Participants will enjoy a piece of cake and take home the cookie dough they’ve created as well as a personal gratitude journal.

Dr. Charmaine Jake-Matthews, LCPC is a native Chicagoan who developed a passion for psychology in high school. She pursued this passion by earning a BS and Masters degrees in Psychology and a DMin in Marriage and Family Therapy. Over the last 27 years, she has worked as a psychology professor and psychotherapist while also enjoying hobbies such as singing and baking. In 2022, she began baking as a full-time career and founded Buy the Pound Bakery. She emphasizes the importance of hobbies, like baking, in personal well-being.
