About this Event
Begin your day with a mindful, guided walk with Pasadena Humane Wildlife expert, Lauren Hamlett, through Hahamongna Watershed Park (meeting at JPL Bridge). Each walk will explore a different ecological theme, offering space for observation, conversation, and connection to the landscape.
This month's walk and talk will be watershed focused and co-led by Lauren Hamlett, Director of Pasadena Humane’s Wildlife Education and Services, and Paloma Avila, a local water systems expert.
More about Paloma Avila: Paloma Avila is the Program Director at One Arroyo Foundation. One Arroyo’s mission is to preserve, restore, and celebrate the Arroyo Seco for the benefit of all by fostering community connection and conserving its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Paloma leads the organization’s programmatic work in volunteer stewardship, membership, and educational initiatives throughout the Arroyo Seco parks, including coordinating field trips, leading guided walks, and overseeing a membership program that celebrates the Arroyo while fostering a deeper understanding of its ecological significance.In 2025, Paloma completed a Master of Public Policy at the University of California, Riverside, with an emphasis on environmental and water policy. Her academic work focused on water governance, watershed management, and conservation policy. As a Graduate Student Researcher in the Water Dialogue Lab, she studied water conservation programs in the Colorado River Basin and governance structures at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
