Mindful Mondays
Description:
Do you typically feel like you’re being pulled in a dozen different directions at once, with no time or energy to find your balance? Make a small (but potentially rewarding) investment in yourself this semester and join us for Mindful Mondays, weekly mindfulness sessions intended to give you a chance to just sit still and breathe for a while – to relax, de-stress, and re-center yourself.
Beginner’s instruction will be provided; no previous experience is necessary.

Michael D. Smith - Digital Learning Specialist
Michael D. Smith is the Digital Learning Specialist for the Center for Teaching Excellence, as well as the admin for the CTE website and the Academic Commons. He obtained an M.Ed. in Learning, Design, and Technology (with an emphasis on Instructional Design and Development) from the University of Georgia, and is currently working on an Ed.D. in Leadership, Learning, and Organizational Development (also from UGA).
Michael has worked in higher education for almost thirty years. He spent over twenty years working with information / academic technology at Emory University before completing his Master’s degree and moving to Gwinnett Technical College in 2014, where he worked as an instructional designer / LMS administrator before coming to GGC in early 2016.
Michael is an avid proponent of lifelong learning and is particularly interested in: blended / hybrid and online learning; leadership, motivation, and engagement; mindfulness, reflection, and self-compassion; the development of learning communities; the power of storytelling; and gamification, game-based learning, and gameful learning.
