This workshop will start with a bit of community by sharing (or not if you choose!) about ourselves, our understanding of, and interest in meditation practice. After getting to know each other we will have an open discussion about traditional Buddhist Meditation techniques. These techniques are concerned with one's posture, breath, and general disposition to the thinking process while sitting in meditation. We will have time to unpack these techniques and clarify any question anyone may have regarding how to implement these meditation techniques during practice and how they operate to bring about a meditative state of being. We will then settle down to practice silent sitting meditation as a group for 20 minutes. After silent practice we will have time to share insights and address questions. Finally we will close with a brief discussion about post-meditation daily mindfulness. The hope is that this workshop will give the attendees a personal understanding of meditation & mindfulness to plant the seed of awareness and help them if they wish to develop a practice of their own!
