Mindful Horsemanship at Equuvation Therapy + Education Center

Mindful Horsemanship explores the horse-human relationship through partnership and co-creation rather than control. This clinic guides participants through practices of grounding, awareness, and mindful movement to develop deeper connection, clearer communication, and a safe and joyful relationship with their horse.
Together we will explore the subtle language of horses and how we can communicate through movement, position, energy, and body language in a way they naturally understand. Participants will practice holding a safe space for themselves and their horses, using effective practices to encourage relaxation and mutual attunement.
Through hands-on exercises with touch and gentle movement, we will explore ways to help horses soften, release unnecessary tension, and discover greater relaxation, suppleness, and ease of movement.
The day will conclude with the opportunity to ride, with a focus on guiding the horse as an extension of the rider's body. Participants will learn to improve balance, suppleness, and alignment to support the horse in carrying a rider with comfort and ease. For those who choose not to ride, we will focus on advanced groundwork appropriate to the individual horse.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Stacey Carter brings over four decades of experience as a rider, educator, and horsewoman. From a young age, she developed her foundation through Pony Club, combined training, foxhunting, and working with a wide variety of horses and riders.
She is a PATH Certified Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning, Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Debono Moves Practitioner, and founder of Heart Centered Horsemanship, established over 20 years ago with a focus on starting and developing horses in a way that honors their sentience and supports their emotional and physical well-being.
Over the years, Stacey has shifted her focus from simply training horses to empowering humans with the awareness, communication skills, and embodied presence needed to create deeper connection and partnership. Drawing from her experience helping horses with fear, tension, and past experiences, she teaches riders how to become safe, confident, and compassionate partners their horses can trust.
