Carrie Richards, Home Care Liaison with TheKey, will be at Melody Living to host these interactive sessions. TheKey provides in-home care for seniors where they live to assist them with remaining as independent as possible.
Session 1: Social Cognition (August 26) - Focus on how we process facial expressions, perceive emotions, and relate to others, plus other aspects of healthy aging, including physical activity nutrition, and good sleep hygiene.
Session 2: Executive Functioning (September 2) - We will do fun group exercises to support better problem solving, flexible thinking, memory, organization, and concentration skills.
Session 3: Learning & Memory (September 9) - We will play trivia games and “Name that Tune” along with other activities that flex our learning, memory, and social engagement muscles.
Session 4: Language (September 16) - We will do exercises designed to help language skills and play Sentence Scramble, Word Bingo, and Alphabet Soup.
Session 5: Complex Attention (September 23) - We will do activities that engage concentration skills, helping to improve our ability to focus on and process specific information.
Session 6: Perceptual Motor Skills (September 30) - We will learn about how we receive, organize, and interpret sensory information and see how that process affects our motor skills by doing visual puzzles.
