Mimi Hilaire Trio
About this Event
Vocalist Carami “Mimi” Hilaire’s talents defy easy categorization: a highly regarded lyrico-spinto soprano, she also sings jazz and blues with the best of them. Our season finale features Mimi and her trio, seamlessly weaving French classics, Latin American jazz and reimagined classical influences into a spellbinding performance, taking us around the world to Brazil, Haiti, France, and Italy while never venturing too far from the Broadway stage.
The uniquely soulful soprano hails from Brooklyn and has appeared with Teatro Nuovo, Loft Opera, New Jersey Verismo Opera, Sarasota Opera, and Saratoga Opera. Hilaire has been praised for her “marvelous sound, rich and luscious" (Opera News 2017). When she performed the title role in Aida, critics noted that “Hilaire’s intimate phrasing floated over the tumult of the strings, and in the moments where her voice soared, she earned the applause which nearly brought the show to a stop." (OperaWire 2018). https://mimijazz.com/
