About the Milwaukee Underwear Bike Ride —
“Started as a one-time underwear ride to celebrate a birthday years ago, the Milwaukee Underwear Bike Ride turned into a monthly summertime event that grew into something much larger. Since day one, they’ve been promoted as “a group ride just for fun, and to promote positive self-body image. Anyone and everyone is welcome!”
(Est. 2010)

A message from this years’ organizers —
This underwear bike ride has been created to carry on the legacy of the original/former underwear bike ride in Milwaukee. We are grateful to have the guidance of former ride organizers. While it will not look exactly the same as rides in years past we feel this outlet is an important way for people to get outside on their bikes, experience comradery, take a risk, and create stronger bonds with ourselves, the people around us and our home. It is a ride to encourage body positivity and foster fun and safe play. Play is essential. This is fully community run and we are all responsible for the space we create together. Look out for one another.
A note on personal responsibility and consent -
We fully understand the freedom and liberation that accompanies participating in the underwear bike ride, but we also recognize the vulnerability that you may face while attending. We do our best to prioritize creating a safe welcoming space for everyone but we understand any vulnerability can potentially put people in uncomfortable situations.
If we could be with every participant to help ensure your safety we would. Organizers will be keeping an eye on things during the ride and afterparty but we need you to keep both yourself and friends/strangers in check.
If you see something say something. No unwanted comments, touching, creeping or general unwelcome behavior/attitudes towards anyone. That is simply not welcome in this space and will not be tolerated. Respect the people around you. That is only way this ride can and will work. We want new friendships and relationships to form from this ride but it is not a place to come out looking to just “hook up”. Think about your words and actions and how it makes others feel.
If you can’t follow these guidelines you are not welcome or allowed to participate in this ride and will be asked to leave.
For your own personal safety we suggest riding and staying close with a friend. Bring a change of clothes, in case you get a flat / mechanical problem and need to take a bus or ride share or ride to get yourself somewhere safe. Busses have space for 2 bikes on their front racks.
Wear a helmet, bring a bike light, a patch kit and respect your limits. This event needs everyones active participation in ensuring that we create and maintain a positive experience for everyone. Please help us in taking this personal ownership and responsibility of your event.
(This ride is not affiliated with the naked bike ride in any way. After scheduling this ride we later saw that the naked bike ride falls on the same day this year. Our ride is completely independent of theirs. We can speak only for the mission of the Milwaukee Underwear Bike Ride.)
