I’m so excited to share the theme for the 2026 Millstadt Autism Walk - It’s a Small World.
Inspired by the timeless message of Disney’s It’s a Small World, this year’s walk is about unity, empathy, and our shared humanity. No matter where we come from, how we communicate, or how our abilities may differ, we are all connected by common hopes, experiences, and the simple truth that everyone matters and no one is alone.
This year, the walk will quite literally take you around the world. As participants move through the route, they’ll experience different cultures using all of the senses - sights, sounds, movement, and meaningful moments of connection. The goal is not perfection, but celebration, learning, and togetherness.
At a time when the world can feel divided, this walk is a reminder that our Millstadt community is close-knit, welcoming, and strong - and that we can also reach a little farther, bringing the world to Millstadt for one special day. Different cultures, different abilities, different stories - all under one golden sun.
✨ We are currently looking for volunteers ✨
If you’d like to be involved by helping represent a country or region - whether it reflects your heritage, a place you love, somewhere you’ve traveled, or simply a culture you’re interested in - I would love to hear from you. This could include simple décor, music, movement, language, colors, or sensory-friendly elements that help bring that place to life in a respectful and joyful way.
So far, a local family is excited to share the cultures of the Middle East, and we’re hoping to include many more areas of the world, such as:
Holland, England, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Central & South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, and beyond.
