Join Beth Piatote and Heid E. Erdrich at the Minnesota Museum of Modern Art for a reading, conversation, and celebration of their latest works. Doors will open at 6:00 for reception, and the event will begin at 7:00.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Beth Piatote is a Nez Perce scholar, playwright, poet, and associate professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Berkeley. Her books include distant water, out with Milkweed Editions in 2026, and The Beadworkers, which was longlisted for the PEN/Bingham Prize for Debut Short Story Collection and the Aspen Words Literary Prize, and the scholarly monograph Domestic Subjects. An enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, Piatote is devoted to the study of her heritage language of Nez Perce and is an Indigenous language revitalization activist. She lives in Berkeley, California.

Heid E. Erdrich’s 2024 book is Verb Animate. Her 2020 book Little Big Bully won a National Poetry Series award. She is a curator, editor, and teacher. Heid edited New Poets of Native Nations and co-edited the 2025 publication Boundless: Abundance in Native American Art and Literature. Heid is Ojibwe and enrolled at Turtle Mountain.
