MILES of Freedom presents the 8th Annual Arts of Oppression Exhibition and Auction, a one-night exhibition and auction of original work by currently and formerly incarcerated artists. Since 2016, Arts of Oppression has given artists a public platform and a direct income stream through art sales, using the work itself to challenge how people see mass incarceration.
This year's evening features original work from seven confirmed artists, Alma Rios, Ryan Taylor, Thomas Buchanan, Larry Ramirez, Art Anguiano, Devin Hairston, and Robert Nazaroff II, along with a moderated conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and 29 Pieces founder Karen Blessen, plus live performances from Mar Butler and Seneca.
The event is free to attend. Donations to MILES of Freedom and the artists are encouraged, and original artwork is available for purchase and to be bid on throughout the evening.
