MILES DAVIS: The PRESTIGE YEARS (classic jazz)

Hailed as “one of the greatest interpreters of Miles Davis' work in Canada” (Hamilton Spectator), multi award-winning trumpet iconoclast Brownman Ali leads a tribute to a pivotal chapter in Miles' history. From 1951 to 1956, Miles would record a string of groundbreaking albums for Prestige Records, including Cookin’, Relaxin’, Workin’, and Steamin’ -- music that blended bebop virtuosity with a cool, lyrical sensibility that reshaped modern jazz. Brownman and a selection of top-shelf jazz artists will explore these recordings channeling the intensity and innovation of Miles’ early genius.

Toronto's MY HOUSE in the Junction live music venue & restaurant has teamed up with Brooklyn, NY's Browntasauras Records -- who has a studio in the Junction -- to bring you some of the best jazz in the country during this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) , this year featuring Artist-In-Residence BROWNMAN ALI as the fest's Artistic Director. Up from Brooklyn, NY in June for this festival, this 10x Global Music Award winner, 12x JUNO Award nominee and GRAMMY long-lister will be on stage every night during the festival as either a sideman or a leader, and has hand-picked all the top-shelf musicians involved in the 1st annual My House TIFF Jazz Series, where TIFF goers can keep the party going after their screenings. Come to My House in the Junction for an unforgettable jazz experience this September during TIFF!
