Mildred Kiconco Barya is a North Carolina-based writer and poet of East African descent. She teaches and lectures globally and is the author of four full-length poetry collections including, The Animals of My Earth School (Terrapin Books, 2023). Her prose, hybrids, and poems have appeared in the New England Review, The Cincinnati Review, Shenandoah, Joyland, Tin House, The Forge, and elsewhere. Robert McGee is a caregiver, activist and award-winning writer living in the woods near Asheville, North Carolina. His stories and essays have appeared in The Sun Magazine, Carve, The Los Angeles Times, the Christian Science Monitor, Blue Ridge Outdoors, Chicken Soup For The Soul, The Great Smokies Review, and elsewhere. He’s currently completing a collection of 52 short essays called The Book of Sundays.
