Michael Madfes, the man behind SubliminalSF, Running With Scissors (RWS Presents), SFMusic Online, and It Is What It Is, LLC -- unexpectedly died in his sleep on September 3rd, 2024.As a child in San Francisco, Mikey was an accomplished Boy Scout in Troop 88, played in PAL Soccer, and was on the Congregation Beth Shalom Basketball Team.
As a teenager, while attending George Washington High School, Michael started working a part time job at Tower Records in Stonestown, which jump started his involvement with the Bay Area's music scene.
Following graduation from SFSU, Michael started providing freelance graphic arts and web design services to local businesses, building a massive portfolio of deliverables he created for radio stations, film festivals, bars, retail brands, and more.
Michael is survived by his father David Madfes; his sister Sasha Madfes; and everyone whose lives he touched with his warm and welcomed hugs during the many years he produced shows or worked for such venues as Rickshaw Stop, The Ivy Room, Kilowatt Bar, Thee Parkside, Cat Club, Bottom of the Hill, SF Eagle, Annie's Social Club, The Masonic, The Fillmore, Bender’s Bar & Grill, The Pound, and DNA Lounge... just to name a few!

A 3-part, 2-venue event "MADFEST!" will be held in tribute to Mikey on Sunday, December 8th -- because, come'on now... WWMMD?
