Midweek Musical Matinee: "Exile to Hollywood"
Tuesday (!), November 10
1:00pm
In-Person at the Osher Marin JCC, 200 N. San Pedro Road (San Rafael, CA)
NYC-based jazz pianist Gabriel Schillinger-Hyman and a special guest artist (TBA) explore jazz standards that originated in film, revealing how the movies helped carry jazz into the collective imagination.
Particular emphasis is placed on works by Jewish composers whose contributions to 20th century film and popular music cannot be overstated.
Audiences can expect to hear works from a wide spectrum of filmic mediums and genres, including silent films, “talkies”, animated works, detective/noir, gothic horror/supernatural, romance, musicals, Hollywood and non Hollywood-born films.
