Midsummer on the Prom: A Ballet Picnic invites families and friends to gather on Portland’s beautiful Eastern Promenade for an enchanting afternoon of dance, whimsy, and community. Guests are encouraged to bring picnics and blankets to enjoy while watching excerpts by Portland Ballet dancers from A Midsummer Night's Dream, followed by crafts and activities for all ages. The event will include special appearances by mini-unicorns (mini horses) thanks to our friends at Riding to the Top!
With live performance at the heart of the celebration, this joyful summer gathering brings together dance, community, and midsummer magic against the backdrop of Casco Bay. Once each hour, Portland Ballet dancers will present performance excerpts and lead interactive mini-movement sessions, inviting guests to experience the beauty and joy of ballet.
Rain Date: Sunday, July 26 at the Eastern Promenade
Crafts, activities, and performances are included with entry to the Picnic. Available for additional purchase: Snacks, refreshments, and merchandise.
