Welcome to MIDC's 1st Annual Northern and Mid-Michigan Defender Conference!

The Michigan Indigent Defense Commission is pleased to offer this meeting and training for all people working in public defense in Northern and Mid-Michigan.

Free registration and open to all in public defense.

Agenda:

10-10:30 a.m. - Welcome, introductions, and setting the objectives for the day (Marla McCowan, MIDC Deputy Director and Training Director)

10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Trauma informed representation (Susan Prentice-Sao, MIDC Program Manager, Youth Defense Training)

12:00 - 12:45 p.m. - networking/lunch (lunch provided, please let us know any dietary restrictions)

12:45 - 1:00 p.m. - Solving the Rural Attorney Shortage Crisis (Mike Naughton and Barbara Klimaszewski, Special Assignment Team)

1:00 - 2:00 p.m. - Statewide innovations in public defense (Melissa Wangler, MIDC Senior Regional Manager)

2:00 - 3:00 p.m. - MIDC Standards, Implementation and Best Practices (Lauren Calef, MIDC Northern Michigan Regional Manager, and Matt Lozen, MIDC Mid-Michigan Regional Manager)

The sessions will be facilitated by MIDC Staff and up to 5 hours of CLE towards MIDC Standard 1 requirements will be awarded to attorneys for attendance at all sessions.
