about gallery a

In recent years, Long Beach and neighboring communities have seen the emergence of a number of micro galleries thanks to local artist and Micro Galleries of Long Beach creator Dave Clark. These sizable spaces have established a vibrant community of mini neighborhood arts districts, creating accessible spaces to show and enjoy artwork. AGCC has partnered with Dave Clark to bring our very own micro gallery to campus.

about Ashley Tesfamariam

Ashley Tesfamariam will be gallery a’s first exhibit artist. A metalsmith based in Los Angeles, Tesfamariam’s work recontextualizes urban environments, and investigates the ways we interact with and move through urban areas, specifically the systems and networks of Los Angeles. Through recreations and interpretations of street signage, she offers an analysis of public displays of language as methods of shared communication, exploring how the language of road signs define our experiences within our urban infrastructure centered around transportation. The public is invited to view Ashley Tesfamariam’s work and celebrate the monumental opening of gallery a on Saturday, August 22nd at 1pm.
