*First things first! This months concert will start at 7:45pm* This month, Folk at the Barlow brings you the opportunity to see 2 more greats from the UK folk scene. Mick Ryan, a fine singer of traditional and original songs, writes both comic and serious songs for the band the Crows and has created a number of highly successful folk musicals performed at major UK Folk Festivals.
Paul Downes is an excellent guitarist, singer and songwriter known for his duo work with Phil Beer. Together, Mick and Paul provide singing, music and entertainment of the very highest quality.
This month we have a special support act for you. This is a revisiting of the show "Icebound" originally staged by the Roaring Forties, of whom our own Geoff Miller is the only remaining member. This tells the story, through song and narrative, of a disastrous nineteenth century whaling voyage in which the ship became stuck in the ice for six months. Geoff will be aided by club members Nick Mallion and Simon Blatchley.
Tickets are £12.50. Students are £6 and accompanied under-16s can attend for free. Doors open at 7:15pm and the Reading Room bar will be open throughout. Make-your-own Tea & Coffee is available in the Community Kitchen for a small donation
