Mick McConnell, has for almost 30 years been a full-time member of the legendary Bradford band ‘Smokie’ in the role as lead guitarist.However, it’s his side project ‘Mick McConnell & Blue Thunder’ that’s now causing a bit of a stir for him on the music scene.
His rip-roaring melodic guitar playing, along with his infectious Blues/Rock tunes he has written, have certainly come to the attention of music venues, promotors and audiences alike - with one review saying "He's not a borrower, these are his his own riffs" being one that Mick is rightfully proud of.
Mick McConnell & Blue Thunder continue to build on their successes of 2024, by embarking on their first UK Tour commencing in January and running into February 2025.
Mick's solo album "Under My Skin" reached number 13 in the European Blues Charts, and he’s also had credible interviews in Blues in Britain, and various other European Blues Scene magazines.
He's fortunate enough to have joined the “One Billion Club” on a PLAYLIST that featured his track “Holdin On”
Mick recently stated "My band are nice guys, and boy can they groove"
