Today most archeologists and other scientists believe that humans like us first appeared on this planet less than 300,000 years ago. However, the scientific literature of the past two centuries contains many reports of geologists and archeologists finding human bones, human artifacts, and human footprints going much further back in time. How extreme could human antiquity possibly be? It could be many millions, perhaps hundreds of millions, of years.
