Legacy House and Chef Yella invite you to the first edition of Mic Check & Masterpieces — The Live Arts Series, where food, music, art, poetry and nostalgia come together for one unforgettable night.
For our first volume, we’re taking it back to the 80s vs 90s—when mixtapes told stories, slow jams set the mood, hip-hop moved the room and handwritten love notes meant something. Come experience a grown, intimate and soulful evening where the smooth energy of Love Jones meets the feel-good, get-up-and-dance energy of House Party—all in one evening.
Come ready to eat, sip, vibe and maybe even step up to the mic.
THE EXPERIENCE
Throughout the evening, you’ll experience live art created in real time, curated poetry and spoken word, featured performances and select open-mic moments for guests ready to share a poem, a verse, a song or a little something from the soul.
Then we turn the party up. DJ Diva will be on the 1’s & 2’s taking us through the sounds that defined the 80s and 90s—from classic R&B and slow jams to the hip-hop and party records that made you get up and dance. Think Love Jones when the night begins, House Party when the beat drops.
Herblend will be behind the cocktails with signature pours created especially for the night.
And because no grown night is complete without good food, Chef Yella is bringing a full culinary track list featuring Welcome Bites, three Dinner Tracks to choose from and a Bonus Track Dessert Option.
We’ll also have curated vendors, cigars, our interactive Mixtape Wall, Love Notes & Lyrics, nostalgic moments, open mic session and plenty of space to mix, mingle, and catch a vibe.
As the performances wind down, we flip over to The B-Side—more music, cocktails, conversation and grown-folks energy to carry us through the rest of the night.
