What does it take to amaze God?
While Jesus, as Creator and the Word of God Made Flesh is all knowing and all powerful, the Bible still records His amazement in a few places, specifically in Luke 7. Although Jesus was born a Jewish man to a Jewish mother, many of His own people did not believe that He was God.
Luke 7 records that the faith of a Roman centurion brought amazement to Jesus, as the centurion believed that "at a word", Jesus could heal the man's servant--and He did so. The chapter wraps up with the faith of a sinful woman--a faith much greater than that of the Pharisee, whose house she had entered.
In between, Jesus' compassion and confirmation of His deity to a widow woman burying her only son, and to His imprisoned cousin, John, the Baptizer continue to point to Dr. Luke's main point throughout his record of Jesus and His works--the Son of Man is also unquestionably the Son of God.
