MI Grassroots 2026 - PopUpComp 2

Join us for a day filled with excitement, camaraderie, and the thrill of conquering fresh new problems and routes. These are fun, friendly beginner/intermediate competitions, and should be used as an intro to competition climbing and a feeder into the Youth Climbing Series.

Note: If you placed in the Top 3 in your youth category in the 2025 YCS, or are a current member of the Irish Youth Squad or Irish Youth Team, you are NOT eligible to compete in this competition.

• There will be a limited number of places available for the competition. This is a self-judged competition.
• To enter and guarantee a place in the competition, parents are required to enter their child into the competition via this Eventbrite portal before 5pm Sat 20th June; there is no Eventbrite fee to enter the competition.
• Late entry: If you decide to enter the competition after that deadline, you must still submit a late entry registration via this Eventbrite portal; but entry to the competition cannot be guaranteed and will depend on the capacity of the wall that day. You will need to check with the wall that day if entry is possible. There is no Eventbrite fee to enter the competition.

• On competition day, the child and supervising parent must each check-in to the wall as normal; and those who are climbing pay into the wall as normal.

• All competitors and their supervising parent will need to complete the Boulder World online forms prior to arrival:

• The child must be supervised by their parent at all times in the centre.

• Eventbrite entry closes: Sat 20th June at 5pm.
• Eventbrite 'late entry' closes: Sun 21st June at 4pm.

• This is a self judged competition; and all parents and children are expected to support each other in judging throughout the day. There will be a judging brief provided just before the competition starts.

• You will receive your scorecard at the reception desk when you check-in at the climbing wall.
• Please bring your own equipment (climbing shoes, chalk bag etc.) or you can hire it from the wall.
• These are friendly, stand alone pop-up competitions; there are no prizes, podiums or medals.

These times may change up until and on the day of the competition.

• Check in: 10am – 10.40am
• Briefing (for parents/judging/competitors): 10.45am
• Climbing: 11am – 4pm
• Please try to arrive to the climbing wall for 10am as this will speed things up for staff as regards checking everyone in.

• Scorecards must be handed into the desk once you are finished competing, and no later than 10mins after the end of climbing time otherwise your score will not be counted.
• Results are via email: Approx 5.30pm. If your child is finished climbing early in the day and you need to shoot on; that’s no problem as the results are announced later that evening via an email to parents.

• Boulders: Font 5+ - Font 6c
• By entering the competition via Eventbrite; the child and supervising parent all agree to the information above and agree that they have read and understood the competition
